Exclusive: BASE Prods. is merging with Tinopolis Group, the U.K.’s largest independent media producer and distributor.
Reality shingle BASE — partnered by John Brenkus and Mickey Stern — is the home to numerous skeins, including “Sport Science,” “Fight Science,” “Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files” and “Police POV.” With offices in both Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, BASE becomes the second major North American independent to join the Tinopolis Group, which recently merged with “Hell’s Kitchen” producer A. Smith and Co.
Insiders say the BASE deal was worth approximately $75 million.
“We’ve been approached by numerous companies over the years, and none of the offers made sense until now,” Brenkus said. “We are thrilled to be joining a group that is as dynamic as Tinopolis, and be playing a key role in helping to shape its future.”
Besides A. Smith and Co., other companies under the Tinopolis umbrella include reality producer Mentorn Media, sports shingle Sunset + Vine and Daybreak Pictures.
