Bailey to tackle ‘Self-Esteem’ rewrite

'Office' scribes wrote original script

Jaylynn Bailey has been tapped to pen a rewrite on “The Low Self-Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie” for Mandate and John Malkovich via his Mr. Mudd banner.

Project was originally set up in 2009 by “The Office” scribes Brent Forrester and Mindy Kaling. Mandate and Mr. Mudd collaborated on “Juno.”

Story centers on a woman whose lack of self-worth has limited her choice in men to losers. Just as she is about to hit the bottom of the barrel, her life takes an unexpected turn when she is pursued by the hottest guy ever.

Bailey co-wrote “Elixir” with Terry Rossio for ABC Family; production starts Monday. Her screenplay “Betty’s Ready” made the Black List in 2009 and was subsequently optioned by Plan B Prods.

Bailey gave up an astrophysics scholarship to study creative writing at Brown U. She is repped by Gersh and Circle of Confusion.
