‘Autoerotic’ arouses IFC

Theatrical, VOD planned for comedy

IFC Midnight has snagged North American rights to Joe Swanberg and Adam Wingard’s comedy “Autoerotic,” with theatrical and VOD plans in the works for the film.

Pic about the sexual lives of four Chicago couples stars Kate Lyn Sheil, Amy Seimetz, Lane Hughes, Kris Swanberg, Ti West and Frank V. Ross. Producer Swanberg co-wrote and co-helmed with Wingard, who also edited the pic; Simon Barrett is credited as co-writer.

“Autoerotic” reps the latest in a string of IFC acquisitions of Swanberg’s work, including “Hannah Takes the Stairs” and “Nights and Weekends.” Sundance Selects/IFC Films’ Lizzie Nastro inked the distrib deal with Swanberg. Established last year, the genre-centric IFC Midnight label is a sister division to IFC Films and Sundance Selects.

“Autoerotic” is available on demand this month ahead of theatrical dates this summer.
