Thriller targets a fall release

Gotham-based distributor ATO Pictures has nabbed U.S. theatrical rights to “Thin Ice,” the black-comedy thriller previously titled “The Convincer.”

Pic stars Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin and Billy Crudup in the story of a Wisconsin insurance agent (Kinnear) whose scheme to dupe a retired farmer (Arkin) is complicated by an ex-con locksmith (Crudup).

Helmer Jill Sprecher co-wrote the script with sister Karen. Sibs previously teamed on “Thirteen Conversations About One Thing” and “Clockwatchers.”

Elizabeth Redleaf and Christine Walker of Werc Werk Works produced with Mary Frances Budig of Spare Rooms Prods. Distribution deal was negotiated by Sarah Lash and Vicki Cherkas for ATO with attorney Stephen Clark repping the producers.

ATO is targeting a fall release for “Thin Ice.”
