Art by De Niro Sr., Otterness to be given to festival award winners
Works by visual artists Robert De Niro Sr., Tom Otterness and Clifford Ross are among those that have been donated to the Tribeca Film Festival’s Artists Awards Program.
The original pieces — including paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures — will each be given to one of the makers of the pics that pick up fest kudos.
The late painter De Niro Sr. is the father of TFF co-founder Robert De Niro. Otterness is well known in Gotham for his small bronze figures displayed in a number of public spaces, while Will Ryman’s latest public art project, “The Roses,” is currently installed on the Park Avenue Malls.
Painters Inka Essenhigh, Stephen Hannock and Mark Innerst, photographer Taryn Simon and multi-disciplinary artists Nate Lowman and Clifford Ross also are on the list of visual artists contributing to Tribeca.
Tribeca fest, heading into its 10th year, runs April 20-May 1. More artists are expected to donate works to be handed out to the fest’s award winners, to be announced in a ceremony April 28.
