Apocalyptic thriller ‘The Day’ sells to U.K., France

Content Film preems pic at AFM

Entertainment One has snapped up rights to Doug Aarniokoski’s post-apocalyptic thriller “The Day” for Blighty, France, Scandinavia and South Africa.

Pic, which is being shopped internationally by Content Film Intl. and is having its market preem at the American Film Market, was also acquired by Nettai Museum for Japan.

Luke Passmore penned the story in which an open war against humanity rages and five survivors are lost and on the run.

Pic stars Shawn Ashmore, Ashley Bell, Michael Eklund, Cory Hardrict, Dominic Monaghan and Shannyn Sossamon.

Guy A. Danella produces while Aarniokoski, Michael Finley, Tim James, Antonina Armato and Ross M. Dinerstein exec produce.

Splendid has already bought the pic for German-speaking territories in Europe and Benelux.

Content is repping international rights while Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content is handling North American rights.
