'Harry Potter,' 'Toy Story 3' vie for best film with 'Alice'

London– Blighty’s 11th RAAM kudofest celebrating excellence in the U.K. and Irish distrib industry announced its nominations on Friday, with Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” receiving three noms.

Tim Burton’s 3D adventure is up for movie of the year, alongside Warners’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ and “Toy Story 3,” another Disney pic.

Three Mouse House pics are battling for the Imax movie of the year — “Alice,” “Toy Story 3″ and “Tron: Legacy.”

“Alice” and “Toy Story 3″ are also up for the Dolby 3D movie of the year with Paramount’s “Shrek Forever After,” while Optimum Releasing’s “A Prophet” and Momentum Pictures’ “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and “The Girl Who Played With Fire” are up for foreign language movie.

Par, Fox and Warner Bros. will vie for distributor of the year, while Entertainment Film Distributors, eOne Group and Optimum Releasing are up for indie distrib of the year.

Industry recognition awards will be presented to David Puttnam, prexy of the U.K. Film Distributors’ Assn. and producer of pics including “The Killing Fields” and “Local Hero,” Entertainment toppers Trevor and Nigel Green, thesp Gerard Parkes and former film critic Michael Dwyer.

The first awards show in the U.K. and Irish cinema awards season will unspool on Feb. 9 at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, London.
