Looking to deepen its pockets this weekend with 3D coin, helmer Michael Gleissner’s 3D indie “Deep Gold” continues its limited run in the top 20 U.S. markets, including New York, L.A., Dallas and Washington, D.C.
“Deep Gold,” which launched last weekend at the majority of its 25 opening locations in 3D, is being distributed Stateside by Bigfoot Ascendant.
Pic, toplining Bebe Pham and Jaymee Ong, tells the story of a woman who searches for her boyfriend after he goes missing while escorting a load of gold. Gleissner, who also served as producer, co-wrote the film with Frederick Bailey.
Les Nordhauser and Elliot Tong produced alongside Gleissner.
Bigfoot has a tough road ahead on the 3D front, having to compete with major 3D studio releases, most notably, Fox’s “Rio,” which will cross the $100 million mark domestically this weekend. Weinstein Co.’s 3D toon “Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil” also is commanding approximately 1,800 3D domestic runs.
