Sundance Selects gets ‘Beloved’

Company gets North American rights to Christophe Honoré's romancer

Sundance Selects has snapped up North American rights to Christophe Honoré’s romancer “Beloved,” the closing night film at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Sundance Selects announced the deal Saturday at the Toronto Film Festival, where it is screening.

The film, with a screenplay also by Honoré, stars Catherine Deneuve, Chiara Mastroianni, Ludivine Sagnier, Louis Garrel, Paul Schneider and Milos Forman and was produced by Why Not Prods., France 2 Cinéma, Sixteen Films, Negativ with the Participation of Canal + France.

It’s the fifth Honore title that Sundance Selects has picked up following “Dans Paris,” “Loved Songs,” “La Belle Personne” and “Making Plans for Lena.”

The deal for the film was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects with Hengameh Panahi of Celluloid Dreams on behalf of the filmmakers.
