Brisk biz for Clooney pic
Exclusive Media subsid Exclusive Films Intl. has come to Berlin with a robust slate and a raft of sales for George Clooney pic “Ides of March,” which it shopped to buyers at the AFM.
Deals on the pic, which sees Clooney direct Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti and Marisa Tomei in an adaptation of the Broadway play “Farragut North,” include Canada (Alliance), Blighty (eOne), France (Metropolitan), Germany (Tobis), Australia (Roadshow), Italy (RAI), Spain (Wide), Benelux (Independent), Scandinavia (Svensk), Eastern Europe (EEAP) and Latin America (California).
Exclusive has been ramping up in the past few months, starting with the launch of an acquisitions fund in Sundance that allows EFI to pick up movies and pay guarantees of up to $20 million per film in exchange for all international distribution rights or those for specific territories.
First pic from the fund is Diane Keaton and Ed Harris starrer “The Look of Love,” which EFI is launching sales on in Berlin. Pic, produced by Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis with EFI, centers on a widow who meets a man who looks like her late husband, and the connection rekindles old feelings.
The company is also shopping Daniel Radcliffe starrer “The Woman in Black,” Miley Cyrus starrer “So Undercover” and Martin Scorsese’s untitled George Harrison docu.
