‘Detachment,’ rocker doc join Tribeca

Brody topliner to have world premiere at the festival

The world preem of Adrien Brody topliner “Detachment” and a screening of a work-in-progress docu about rockers Kings of Leon make for late additions to the lineup of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.

The latest film from helmer Tony Kaye (“American History X”), “Detachment” follows a substitute teacher (Brody) whose itinerant life is disrupted by three women he meets during a stint in a public school. Christina Hendricks, Lucy Liu, James Caan, Marcia Gay Harden, Blythe Danner, Tim Blake Nelson, William Petersen and Bryan Cranston all appear in the pic, which is penned by Carl Lund.

Stephen C. Mitchell’s work-in-progress doc “Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon,” traces the story of the band’ Kings of Leon, starting with its origins in the Pentecostal South. Inclusion of “Talihina Sky” follows the screening last year of another mid-process docu, Alex Gibney’s then-untitled “Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer,” which became one of the buzzed-about titles of the 2010 fest.

The Kings of Leon pic joins a 2011 Tribeca roster that opens with an outdoor screening of another music doc, Cameron Crowe’s “The Union,” about a collaboration between Elton John and Leon Russell.

The 2011 edition of Tribeca runs April 20-May 1.
