Chris Hemsworth will receive CinemaCon’s Male Star of Tomorrow Award at the inaugural confab’s Thursday gala.

Hemsworth stars in “Thor,” out May 6 from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios. He first made his mark in Australia on the smallscreen, starring in the popular series “Home and Away” from 2004 to 2007. In ’09, Hemsworth made his U.S. film debut in “Star Trek” as James Kirk’s father.

He can also be seen in the “Red Dawn” remake, which is complete but seeking a distrib, and begins production on Marvel’s “The Avengers” this year.
