'Genius' slated for release in the States
Cinema Libre Studio and Top Cat Prods. have struck a U.S. distribution deal for docu “Genius on Hold.”
In a P&A deal for about $500,000, the independent distributor will release the film in at least 25 U.S. cities starting in October.
Funding for the P&A will come from a N.Y. hedge fund in a deal brokered by Richard P. Greene of Business and Legal Support in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
“Genius” centers on telecommunications inventor Walter L. Shaw, whose life was destroyed by alleged collusion between the U.S. government and AT&T. Pic is directed by Gregory Marquette and produced by Shaw’s son Walter T. Shaw.
Cinema Libre Intl. is representing the film at Cannes, where its world premiere was held Tuesday.
Cinema Libre has released more than 100 films, including “Fuel,” “The End of Poverty” and “South of the Border.”
