ARP greenlights ‘Vie d’une autre’

Sylvie Testud's debut stars Mathieu Kassovitz, Juliette Binoche

ARP Selection has greenlit thesp Sylvie Testud’s directorial debut “La Vie d’une autre,” a dramedy toplining Mathieu Kassovitz and Juliette Binoche.

The $6.5 million pic follows a young mother on the verge of a divorce, trying to save her marriage. Testud penned the script based on the novel by Frederique Deghelt.

ARP’s Michele Halberstadt and Laurent Petin are producing with Emmanuel Jacquelin for Dialogues Films and Emmanuelle Lacaze for Numéro 4 production. Pic will start shooting in April in Paris, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Testud who won best actress at the European Film Awards for her role in Jessica Hausner’s “Lourdes,” has just wrapped shooting on Raphael Jacoulot’s psychological thriller “The Night Clerk.”

Halberstadt has worked with Testud on a number of occasions, notably as co-writer and producer of “Murderous Maids,” which Testud toplined and for which she won a Cesar for most promising newcomer.

ARP will distrib “La Vie d’une autre” in France.

Kinology reps the pic in international markets. ARP is also on board to produce and distribute the feature debut of another thesp-turned-helmer, Fred Proust’s “Les Vieux cons.”

Pic, a comedy starring Francois Berleand as an immature senior, will lense this summer in France.

Another highlight on ARP’s slate is Francois Cluzet starrer “Mon pere est femme de menage,” which is directed by novelist and first-time helmer Saphia Azzeddine.

Adapted from her book, the family dramedy centers on a 16-year-old boy’s relationship with his father, who works as a housekeeper.

ARP is also co-producing Paolo Sorrentino’s “This Must Be the Place,” which toplines Sean Penn, and Ari Folman’s “The Congress,” his follow up to “Waltz With Bashir.”
