Spanish thesp to star in Sanchis' helming debut
Spanish actress Elena Anaya (“Van Helsing”) is attached to star in first-time helmer Beatriz Sanchis’ dramedy “Todos estan muertos” (They Are All Dead), selected for the Berlinale co-production market.
“Dead” toplines Anaya as a former ’80s rock star who’s now a recluse. Pic is produced by Maria Zamora and Stefan Schmitz at Madrid-based Avalon Prods.
Anaya has just finished shooting Pedro Almodovar’s “The Skin I Live In” opposite Antonio Banderas.
Sanchis, whose short “Mi otra mitad” bowed last year at the Berlinale, also penned the “Dead” script.
Anaya plans to shoot “They Are All Dead” in the second half of 2011, according to Katrina Bayonas, who reps the actress at Madrid and Los Angeles-based Kuranda Management.
