Russell Brand will receive CinemaCon’s Comedy Star of the Year award.
Kudos will be awarded at the newly dubbed confab’s awards gala held March 31.
Brand, known in Blighty for his stand-up and hosting gigs, raised his Stateside profile with 2008’s “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” Last year, he reprised the role in “Get Him to the Greek,” as well as lending his voice to the hit toon “Despicable Me.”
He also has written several autobiographical books, “My Booky Wook” and “Booky Wook 2,” and was honored at Variety’s Power of Comedy event in December. Upcoming films include “Hop” and the “Arthur” remake.
CinemaCon runs March 28-31 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
