Confab is set for Sept. 20-22

Mick Hocking, veep of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has been set as a featured speaker at the second annual 3D Gaming Summit: 3D Gaming and Beyond, produced by Unicomm and the Bob Dowling Group and presented in association with Variety.

Hocking is director of the Worldwide Studios 3D Team, which supervises development of 3D games for Sony.

The confab, set for Sept. 20-22 at Hollywood and Highland, will focus on such topics as the growth of social gaming, the rise of glasses-free 3D, augmented reality and cloud gaming.

“Similar to HDTV and Blu-ray, 3D adoption will be led in large part by gamers,” Hocking said.

“One of the most important factors in the continued growth of the 3D market is the need for the games industry to produce high-quality 3D experiences.”

Among the other speakers set to take part in the summit are MTV Networks’ Shane Shatterfield, Sega America’s Ethan Einhorn, Qualcomm’s Jay Wright and Konami Digital Entertainment’s Careen Yapp. – — Variety staff
