Sony acquires Sucker Punch Prods.

Major adds U.S. game developer to team

Sony Computer Entertainment has acquired game developer Sucker Punch Prods.

This is the 16th company under the wing of SCE World Wide Studio, Sony’s game development team. The deal was inked Tuesday, with no mention of the coin involved.

Best known for its “Sly Cooper” series for PlayStation 2 and “Infamous” series for PlayStation 3, which have collectively moved 7 million units, Sucker Punch will devote itself to making software for Sony’s PlayStation format.

SCE WWS topper Shuhei Yoshida said, “SCE has had a relation-ship with Sucker Punch Prods., one of the best-regarded developers in the business, with outstanding development abilities, for 12 years. We’re truly happy that (SPP) has become a member of the PlayStation family. With the strong support of SPP we’ll be able to create an even more exciting PlayStation entertainment experience.”
