In a private sale, Slate Media Group acquired a substantial portion of the assets of Telecorps Holdings, securing a position as a provider of technology and services to the entertainment industry. Slate will operate under the brands Technicolor-PostWorks New York, Hula Post Production, and Wexler Video.
The move includes Slate’s acquisition of the assets of Technicolor Creative Services
in New York. Now combined with PostWorks New York, Technicolor-PostWorks New York will have access to the proprietary color science, post-production workflow and resources of Technicolor’s global business. “Through this combination and in partnership with Technicolor we can provide a unique set of talent and resources for all our customers in the New York production community for services including film laboratory, dailies processing, near-set dailies, editorial, color grading, finishing and sound – all through one source,” said David Rosen
the company’s CEO.
In California, Wexler Video provides production and post to the reality television space, and Hula Post offers services for film and TV. By consolidating efforts through the two brands, and in combination with Technicolor-PostWorks New York, Slate Media will look to meet the technology and service needs of film and television producers
in both the scripted and un-scripted markets.

Stock, archival and news footage search engine Footage.net has expanded its selection of extreme weather footage through a deal with StormStock, a provider of weather content. Stormstock footage is now available for viewing through Footage.net’s search platform. Through the alliance, Footage.net users will be able to screen preview clips from StormStock’s footage collection, and StormStock will reach a new and growing user base for its specialty footage licensing business.

New York-based grading and vfx house Katabatic Digital is marketing the KataData storage and runtime calculator, an iPhone app for on-set uses and post-production. Kabatic founder Emery Wells developed the app to deal with data planning and management by post artists and technicians. It’s available from the iPhone App Store for $4.99. “For today’s apps, an intuitive user interface is a must-have, so we’ve built in some cool features like swipe gestures to convert units and time code, and for Red camera
users it’s also easy to calculate stereo and HDRx options,” said Wells. “We’ll continue to add more features based on user feedback. If market demand is there, we’ll build it.”
