Webcaster partners with Common Sense Media
Netflix has gone tyke-friendly with a new “Just for Kids” tab on its home page.
With site’s new section, subscribers can now browse child-appropriate streaming content with genres like superheroes, princesses and dinosaurs. Section aims to make categories and content descriptions easy for children to understand.
Netflix teamed with Common Sense Media to construct the “Just for Kids” experience, using Common Sense’s ratings and reviews to help gather appropriate titles and categories. “We’ve partnered with Netflix for many years,” said Amy Guggenheim Shenkan, Common Sense Media prexy, “and our work informs the overall quality and scope of the ‘Just for Kids’ experience, helping parents to make great media choices for the entire family.”
“Just for Kids” stands as Netflix’s nod to kids’ enthusiastic media consumption. Todd Yellin, veep of product innovation at Netflix, noted that “Kids discover and categorize movies and TV shows differently than adults…we’re making it easier for kids and parents alike to have the best possible Netflix experience.”
