Move renews old collaboration between ABC, Par

A collaboration that dates back to ABC and Paramount in the 1970s is being renewed with the election of Michael Eisner to the board of directors of Barry Diller’s IAC. The company said Eisner’s election expands the board to 13 directors.

Eisner, who served as Walt Disney’s CEO from 1984 to 2005, launched his career when he was hired at ABC by Diller, who left to run Paramount in 1974. He would later recruit Eisner to help him run the studio.

Eisner’s appointment to IAC comes as Diller is refocusing more of the e-commerce company on content. Eisner’s Vuguru studio has been aggressively developing scripted series for the Web, including a new development deal it struck with AOL. IAC’s digital partnership with Ben Silverman, Electus, has struck a deal as well with AOL, developing a morning show called “AOL Daybreak.”
