Regional players toon up for global market

Folimage
Won the European Film Academy’s animation feature in 2009 for Jacques-Remy Girerd’s “Mia and the Magoo.” Current pic “A Cat in Paris” sold U.S. rights to New York’s Gkids. “Cat” directors Alain Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli are re-teaming with Folimage on “Phantom Boy.”

Gebeka Films
France’s kidpic specialist distributor launched in 1997 and handles six-eight new pics a year. Co-produces and releases hits, such as Michel Ocelot’s 2005 “Kirikou and the Wild Beasts.”

Les Films du Nord
Animated-short film house led by producer Arnaud Demuynck that promotes auteur-driven shorts created via France-Belgium toon axis.

TeamTo
Up-and-coming TV/3D pics producer. Launched in 2005, combines a Paris studio base and Valence-based animation team. With U.K.’s Cake Entertainment, co-produced TV series “Angelo Rules,” which made waves at Mipcom Junior 2009. Antoine Barraud’s bird tale, “Occho Kochoi,” inaugurated the CNC’s new 3D film production subsid line in 2008.

C Productions Chromatiques
Lyon animation studio led by Patrick Chiuzzi, director of swashbuckler “Tartarin of Tarascon,” co-produced with Spain’s Tresdedos, being pitched at Cartoon Movie this year.

Fargo
A regular partner of Films du Nord and Belgium’s Digit Anima, with whom it’s partnering on “The Ugly Little Monk,” a Cartoon Movie 2009 selection.

Caribara Animation
Annecy- and Paris-based studio, and member of the Toonalliance services group entered feature film production in a big way, working on Patrice Leconte’s “The Suicide Shop.”

Eve Production
Lyon-based animation shingle is developing 2D feature film “Lemuria” and 3D TV series “Nali & Biloo.” Operates production team in Madagascar.

Studio Pinka
Launched in 2007 at Annecy fest, shingle creates cell phone, vidgames, film and TV content. Standout productions include teen rock band series “Garage Club,” broadcast by Nickelodeon in 2009, and “Trax,” a Cartoon Movie 2009 project combining live action and 3D animation.
