Jobs’ health raises Final Cut questions

Speculation prompted over commitment to FCP

Monday’s news that Apple topper Steve Jobs is taking medical leave is sure to prompt speculation about Apple’s commitment to Final Cut.

Jobs has always made it Apple’s mission to democratize digital tools — including filmmaking ones, like Final Cut.

In February, amid worries that Apple would dump Final Cut, Jobs himself responded to the Mac Soda blog, “No worries. FCP is alive and well.” Separately, he reportedly promised “a great release of Final Cut is coming early (in 2011).”

Apple doesn’t comment on such matters, but blogs certainly will. We’ll see if Jobs answers publicly this time.
