Site updates features with mobile focus
IMDb is rolling out an app for consumers and biz insiders alike.IMDb Trivia, a free application for the iPhone and iPod Touch, transforms the site’s trivia section into a mobile gaming experience with such game packs as “Hollywood Hits,” “Family Movies,” “TV Favorites,” and “Blockbuster Films.” Additional game packs are available for 99¢. Players will be able to display their scores on Facebook and compete with other app users through the Apple Game Center. Col Needham, IMDb’s CEO, and Kintan Brahmbhatt, the site’s head of mobile, described the app as “fun, informative and addictive,” adding that they’ve tried to “balance questions for different demographics.” There have been more than 26 million installs of IMDb mobile apps thus far worldwide. Needham describes the company’s current focus as on the mobile market, as well as on “helping you decide what to watch” with IMDb’s recently implemented Watchlist. The IMDb Trivia App goes live today and is available in the iTunes Store.
