HBO renews ‘Ricky Gervais Show’

Animated series set for third season

HBO has renewed “The Ricky Gervais Show” for a third season.

Based on the popular podcast of the same name, the animated series is currently winding down its second season Fridays at 9 p.m.

In other HBO news, the network has confirmed HBO Films is developing an adaptation of novel “The Knitting Circle,” with Katherine Heigl attached to star and exec produce. “Dirty Sexy Money” creator Craig Wright is penning the script; Heigl exec produces along with her mother, Nancy Heigl, through their joint shingle, Abishag Prods., along with Pine Street Pictures.

“Gervais” is produced for HBO Entertainment by Media Rights Capital in association with Wildbrain Entertainment. Exec producers are Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Karl Pilkington, Glyn Hughes, Bob Higgins, Lisa Ullmann and Steve Patrick. Voices are done by Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington.
