Time Warner Cable restored cable channels owned by Fox Cable Networks and Discovery Networks to its controversial iPad app on Friday, two weeks after they were removed after the companies filed cease and desist orders.
But channels owned by a third company, Viacom, remain off the iPad in the wake of lawsuits Viacom and Time Warner Cable filed against each other last week.
Time Warner Cable indicated on a company blog that six channels from the two companies were back on the app Friday afternoon, but gave no indication why. Neither Fox nor Discovery would comment on the restored channels.
The channels in question include Discovery’s Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet as well as Fox’s FX, National Geographic Channel and Fox New Channel.
On Thursday, Time Warner Cable added four new channels including Sundance Channel, bringing the total to 60 networks currently on the app. Viacom had senve channels on the the iPad before they removed, including MTV and BET.
