”Dwelling” has won a contest as the top original Web series among shows from Strike TV and will receive a second season exclusively on Metacafe.
Written and directed by Anthony Q. Farrell, ”Dwelling” won the Metavote contest, which generated more than six million video views in one month’s time.
Strike TV and Metacafe announced the results Friday. As part of being awarded a second season exclusively on Metacafe, ”Dwelling” will be supported by a sponsoring brand advertiser who may be integrated into the show’s content.
”MetaVote demonstrates the power of short-form video entertainment and consumers’ desire to see more made-for-the-Web original series from Hollywood talent,” said Steven Horn, VP of programming at Metacafe.
”Dwelling” is the story of three roommates who willingly share a house, but unwillingly share their lives.
Other original short-form shows in the contest included, ”Unknown Sender,” ”Coma, Period,” ”Let’s Get Laid,” ”Daryl from OnCar,” ”Hildy Hildy” and ”B-Rock.”
Strike TV was founded by multihyphenates while walking the picket line outside of the Walt Disney Co. during the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike. Strike.TV made its formal debut in mid-2008 as a web venture designed to showcase the work of WGA members and pros from other guilds and unions.
