Pixar pic moved to 2013; 'Reboot Ralph' bumped up to Nov. 2012

Disney has swapped release dates for “Reboot Ralph,” now set to bow next year on Nov. 2, with “Monsters University” moving to the former’s June 21, 2013, slot.

“Reboot” has been on the Mouse’s plate for a while, originally having been dated for March 22, 2013. Last week at CinemaCon, Disney announced during its slate presentation the newly monikered “Monsters University,” Pixar’s prequel to “Monsters Inc.” Both pics will be released in 3D.

Calendar swap gives Disney-Pixar animators more time on “Monsters,” while “Reboot” is ahead of schedule, studio says.

“Monsters” takes place before its toon predecessor with Mike and Sully as bitter rivals in school; “Reboot” is about an outdated vidgame character.

In other news, DreamWorks Animation has moved back 3D toon “The Croods” by four weeks from March 1, 2013, to March 22.

Up next for Disney is “Prom” on April 29, followed by “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” set to bow on May 20. Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 2″ will go wide beginning June 24.
