Disney France and French broadband company Free have partnered to launch Disneytek and ABCtek, multi-platform digital TV video services dedicated to Disney and ABC programming.
Kicking off April 14, subscribers to Free will be able to stream and download hit shows from Disney Movies, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior series and ABC Studios series.
“This partnership, initiated in France, is a first in the market and in Europe, and reflects our determination to respond to consumer desire for freedom and at the same time our desire to ease access to all of our content,” said Jean-Francois Camilleri, chairman of the Walt Disney Co. France.
Disneytek will feature animated films such as “Toy Story 3,” live-action blockbusters such as “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” and TV series like “Hannah Montana.”
ABCtek will offer hit ABC Studios skeins including “Desperate Housewives.”
Content will be accessible via other devices such as games consoles, tablets and mobile phones.
New series and films will be added regularly and offered simultaneously with their release on DVD/Blu-ray.
Films will be available in SD and HD in French as well as original subtitled versions.
