Intl. 3D Society names Mainard, Cosgrove, others

The Intl. 3D Society has chosen its board of governors and executive committee for 2011-12.

Jim Mainard, head of production development at DreamWorks Animation, was named chair; 3dnet CEO Tom Cosgrove will serve as chair-elect.

Others named to the exec committee include Panasonic’s Kappei Morishita, 3D technologist and inventor Lenny Lipton and Sony’s Buzz Hays. Society prexy Jim Chabin will also serve on the committee. Org is dedicated to the advancement of stereoscopic 3D arts and technology.

“The Intl. 3D Society’s leadership now connects 3D companies and professionals from the U.S. to China, Korea, Japan, the U.K. and 17 (other) countries,” Mainard said.

“3D is now colonizing screen platforms throughout the marketplace,” Chabin said. “The board of governors will advance and strengthen our efforts to fill that pipeline (and) to advance the success of 3D.”The society’s membership spans studios, producers, technology suppliers, distributors and exhibitors.
