Slattery joins Therapy; ASG hires McGovern
Film producer Kelly Slattery joined Therapy Studios as exec producer of the post house’s new feature film division.
Therapy began in 2005 as an editorial and finishing company and recently launched an interactive division handling online projects. The move into features will make use of Therapy’s know-how in editorial, color, vfx, graphics, trailers and interactive work.
“I’d like Therapy to have one or two films in here at a time,” said Slattery. “We’re going to make it much more feature-friendly than ever before.”
Past feature projects that have already gone to Therapy include “Jonah Hex,” which was cut by Therapy editors Fernando Villena and Doobie White; and “Transcendent Man,” the company’s own feature-length docu, cut by Meg Ramsay.
The company plans to build three new suites at its West L.A. location, including an Avid edit bay outfitted to cut spots and films in 3D.
Film and video integration firm Advanced Systems Group has hired Tim McGovern as director of professional services. McGovern, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will lead the tech services team at its Northern California base.
McGovern was key in leading the transition from analog to digital technologies as director of engineering at George Lucas’ Skywalker Sound and as chief engineer for Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope Studios.
More recently, he completed engineering and provided installation support for new media and network facilities at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. His latest project was similar work for Indiana University’s Film Theater.
