3D film fest set next week

CMF partners with Intl. 3D Society and Panasonic

Student film fest org Campus MovieFest (CMF), in partnership with Panasonic and the International 3D Society (I3DS), will stage its first Film Festival during its International Grand Finale events in Hollywood, June 23-26.

The competition debuted in January, offering CMF’s top filmmakers the opportunity to submit treatments for short 3D films. CMF selected approximately 50 student filmmaking teams, providing them with the latest Panasonic 3D consumer cameras and training to shoot and edit their five-minute 3D films.

“With both the industry and our students showing immense interest in 3D, we couldn’t be more excited to work with great partners and provide our students with unique educational opportunities,” said CMF co-founder David Roemer. “We’re constantly amazed by the imagination and talent our student filmmakers possess, and we’re thrilled to see them use 3D technology to enhance their stories while getting preparation and training for industry career opportunities.”

“The 3D Society supports 3D education as our core mission,” said society prexy Jim Chabin. “Our partnership with Campus MovieFest allows us to identify and support the next generation of 3D moviemakers.”

A panel of industry and 3D professionals will judge all submissions, with the winners announced at the Campus MovieFest International Grand Finale red carpet awards ceremony on June 25 at the Steven J. Ross Theater on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank. The winning student teams will earn cash scholarships from the International 3D Society.
