MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell took sister network NBC to task for pumping Donald Trump's prospective presidential candidacy, pointing to the ratings for "Celebrity Apprentice." "As he gets crazier, he goes straight up," O'Donnell says about Trump's pursuit of President Obama's birth certificate.

Here's the interview that O'Donnell had with Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post.

We'll see if O'Donnell is on again tonight. (That's a joke). But in taking on NBC's airing of an interview with Trump on "Today" and coverage of his tease in general, O'Donnell also compared the situation to the way that CBS and Warner Bros. handled Charlie Sheen. As the actor's ruminations got crazier, they fired him. If anything, O'Donnell's segment helps establish him as an independent mind, especially as he fills the slot of Keith Olbermann.
