I'm not sure this is a surprise at all, but the FCC has released a report that states what many have already suspected: Local news coverage is declining, and the result is more government corruption, more waste and abuse, even more power in the hands of civic officials in setting the news agenda.

Disappointing to some media reform advocates is that the report makes what they see as a lack of meaningful recommendations of what to do about it.
