Michele Bachmann appeared on Fox News this morning and demanded that NBC apologize for the intro music played in her appearance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” — The Roots played “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” — and also used to occasion to slam Hollywood.
“If that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her, and likely they could have fired the drummer, or at least, suspended him,” she said. “None of that happened from NBC, and this is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite but it’s also sexism as well.”
NBC has had no comment, but The Roots bandleader Questlove, who chose the music, issued a statement expressing regret in what he characterized as “tongue-in-cheek.” Fallon tweeted last night, “I’m honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I’m so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back.” Bachmann said that she hopes to talk to Fallon today and that she would “love” to go back on the show, but “this wouldn’t have be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama, it shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a conservative woman either.”
