Production firm names new VP of acquisitions, co-productions

The Weinstein Company has named former Universal acquisitions exec Negeen Yazdi VP of acquisitions and co-productions.

Yazdi will work out of TWC’s London office, reporting directly to exec VP acquisitions and co-productions Peter Lawson.

In her new position, Yazdi will be responsible for generating new projects for TWC, developing existing creative partnerships with talent and filmmakers and overseeing daily operations of the company’s London office.

TWC’s history of European acquisitions and productions include ”The King’s Speech,” ”The Concert” and ”The Reader.” Company will release British drama ”My Week With Marilyn” starring Michele Williams later this year.

Yazdi most recently served as director, worldwide acquisitions with Universal Pictures Intl., where she was the sole European-based acquisitions exec. Her acquisition credits during her tenure at U include ”A Dangerous Method,” ”The Troll Hunter” and ”Step Up 3D.”
