AB Intl. unveils crime series 'Tony's Revenge'
AB Intl. Distribution is handling Gilles Banier’s “Tony’s Revenge,” a €10 million ($14 million) skein turning on a gangster who escapes prison after 20 years behind bars, and teams up with a North African delinquent to seek revenge on his former partners in crime.
The skein, which comprises eight one-hours, is produced by Lincoln TV, the TV arm of Fidelite Films, and Tetra Media (“A French Village”). Cast is lead by French-Armenian thesp Simon Abkarian (“Casino Royal”) as Tony.
The plot intertwines flashbacks from the 1950s to chronicle Tony’s rise to power and downfall.
Script is by Virginie Brac, the showrunner on Canal Plus’ skein “Spiral” who is attached to co-write Sam Mendes’ TV drama “Grand Hotel” for paybox Canal Plus.
Praised by French TV critics, the show bowed in March on primetime on France 2.
