‘Mayday 3DNA’ rocks abroad

Taiwanese 3D concert film sells to three countries

BEIJING — Taiwanese shingle Double Edge Entertainment has sold its $3 million 3D concert film, “Mayday 3DNA,” about the band Mayday, to Deltamac in Hong Kong, Galloping Horse in Mainland China and Icon Film Distribution in Australia.

“This rock band is like The Beatles of today among Chinese ages 16 to 50. Mayday will sell out a Shanghai stadium with 150,000 fans… no American rock band does that and six concerts in Hong Kong just sold out in one hour,” said Steve Chicorel, Double Edge’s director of international distribution.

Double Edge has also acquired “Spin Kid” from Taiwan helmer Joe C. Lee.

Pic stars Blue Lan, who featured in Taiwan’s biggest local hit this year, “Night Market Hero,” and “Gangster Rock,” which Van Fan from another Taiwan hit “Cape No. 7.”
