Jeon joins ‘Countdown’

Korean thesp plays femme fatale in actioner

SEOUL — Leading South Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon has been cast in “Countdown,” an actioner about a heartless debt collector and a beautiful ex-con.

Scripted and helmed by debut director Huh Jong-ho, the $6 million pic is produced by Oh Jung-wan’s Bom Film Prods.

Jeon, who won best actress at Cannes in 2007 for “Secret Sunshine,” plays a femme fatale who, after being released from prison, tries to rake it in by manipulating the debt collector. The cast also includes Jung Jae-young (“Moss”), who risks everything to pursue her.

Jeon and Jung also starred together in helmer Ryu Seung-wan’s “No Blood No Tears” in 2002.

Shooting starts at the end of January. Korean distrib SidusFNH aims to release the pic in the second half of the year.
