Dealmakers Impact Report 2011: Up Next

Previously production prexy at Queen Nefertari Productions, Kalligheri partnered with Texas real estate magnate Stephen Bowen last March to launch production and financing company Waterstone.

He packaged and produced its first release, the psychological thriller “The Stare” starring James Franco and Winona Ryder, and set up a multi-project deal with Franco’s company Rabbit Bandini, with the second as-yet-untitled film starting this month.

He also secured the rights to the best-selling self-help book “The Greatest Salesman in the World,” which Waterstone is adapting into a feature film.

Kalligheri will be announcing a deal with Lucas Arts to co-produce a movie based on a major property.

Waterstone is also spearheading a joint venture with the main production company in Qatar.

“We’re one of the few production companies to break in, and we just wrapped our first film together, ‘Killcam Live,’ about a social experiment that goes very wrong,” he says.
