Exhib exec expands management duties

LONDON — Pathe topper Francois Ivernel, also chairman of Les Cinemas Gaumont Pathe, will additionally serve as the exhib’s managing director effective today.

Ivernel, current managing director of film production and distribution at Pathe France and Pathe U.K, was appointed chairman of Les Cinemas Gaumont Pathe in September 2010, one of the continent’s largest exhibs which operates 983 screens from 105 sites across Europe.

Frank Lebouchard will step down from his role as MD of the cinema chain while Ivernel’s position as chair and MD will see him take on a more executive role in the company where he will be more involved in the management of the theatres.

Ivernel’s role has been ever expanding since he joined Pathe’s film production department in 1994: He was upped to managing director of film production and distribution at Pathe France in 2007 and has served as managing director of Pathe U.K. since 2000.

During his tenure, he has been involved as a producer or distrib on clicks such as “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Queen” and “Chicken Run.”
