Film and Casting Temple team on Abhinav Kashyap pic
India’s Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Sydney-based Film and Casting Temple have teamed to tap Australian funding and grants, and to invest in Indo-Aussie projects, the companies announced Thursday.
First up will be helmer-scribe Abhinav Kashyap’s sophomore effort, which has the working title “Project 18” and will be mainly shot in Australia. Kashyap’s “Dabangg” was Bollywood’s biggest hit of 2010, grossing $49 million worldwide.
Another joint project is a thriller from Oz director Bill Bennett, to be shot in India.
The announcement follows Mumbai’s Australian Film Festival run by cultural body Australian Film Initiative, which ended this week.
Bennett said, “Films made in India have a different vision, different storytelling method and different mindset. I aim to give the global audience not just a film, but an experience.”
