Gallic web produces 'My Mum Is in America'
ANNECY — Lagardere Active’s Gulli, one of the Gallic conglom’s three youth-themed nets, is making its feature producing debut with “Ma maman est en Amerique, elle a rencontre Buffalo Bill” (My Mum Is in America, She’s Met Buffalo Bill), a toonpic helmed by Stephane Bernasconi (“Potlach”).
The family adventure turns on a 6-year-old boy who imagines unlikely scenarios for his missing mother.
Announced at Annecy Animation Market, the project is produced by a raft of heavyweight French companies: Label Anim, StudioCanal, Studio 352 and Canal Plus. Gebeka has French distribution rights. Other Angle will handle international sales.
“This project underscores our commitment to creating content that’s both creative and economically viable, in collaboration with our partners from the French animation industry,” stated Antoine Villeneuve, topper of Lagardere Active TV division.
The psychological fantasy drama is based on Jean Regnaud and Emilie Bravo’s graphic novel.
