Fare includes 'Taggart,' 'Walking the Amazon'

LONDON — U.K. distrib DRG has acquired worldwide rights to Scottish commercial broadcaster STV’s catalog under the new moniker STV International.

The 2,000 plus hours of fare includes long-running ITV cop show “Taggart,” now in its 27th season, and the Discovery-Channel 5 co-pro “Walking the Amazon.”

Deal also incorporates a new first-look co-funding and development partnership between the two firms.

STV’s director of content, Alan Clements, said: “As a truly independent distributor DRG have a proven track record for building U.K.-born programming into global brands.

“It’s that strategy for success that we will be looking to achieve across the coming years with prestigious STV Productions such as ‘Taggart’ and ‘Walking the Amazon.’ “
