‘Devil’s’ in sales details

Finecut closes deal for thriller

South Korea-based sales outfit Finecut has closed deals on Kim Jee-woon’s thriller “I Saw the Devil,” among a slate of well-sold pics. “Devil” has been nabbed by Luna Films for Singapore and Montblanc for French-speaking Switzerland, following previous deals for more than 30 countries.

The Korean B.O. hit “Hello Ghost” starring Cha Tae-hyun (“Speed Scandal”) has been sold to Scorpio East for Singapore, to Queen Films for Indonesia and to Hwa Yea Multimedia for Malaysia which also bought the thriller “Midnight FM” and romantic comedy “Cyrano Agency.” “Midnight FM” is also sold to Universal Full Band for China.

Taiwan’s Catchplay nabbed Kim Yunjin starrer “Heartbeat” along with “Night Fishing,” this year’s Berlin short film Golden Bear winner.

At the Cannes fest, Finecut represents two Korean selections in Un Certain Regard, Hong Sang-soo’s “The Day He Arrives” and Kim Ki-duk’s “Arirang.”
