Choi to be CEO of CJ America

Exec was exec VP of film biz division

SEOUL — South Korea’s CJ Entertainment and Media has named Choi Joon-hwan CEO of CJ America.

Choi joined CJ Entertainment in 2004 as director of the film biz division and rose to exec VP. He has supervised investment and production on more than 90 films, including Park Chan-wook’s “Thirst” and Kim Jee-woon’s “The Good, the Bad, the Weird.”

Steered by Katharine Kim, CJ E&M’s film business division has expanded its blockbuster lineup to include “Haeundae” director JK Youn’s 3D actioner “Sector Seven,” “Taegukgi” director Kang Je-kyu’s war epic “My Way” and disaster pic “Tower,” which stars Sul Kyung-gu.
