Filming on family comedy starts in April
PARIS – French thesps Alain Chabat and Eric Elmosnino are set to topline helmer Yann Samuell’s “War of the Buttons,” an adaptation of Louis Pergaud’s classic novel.
Produced by One World Films’ Marc du Pontavice and Didier Lupfer, the €13 million ($18.2 million) family comedy turns on two gangs of kids living in neighboring villages in the 1960s.
“Buttons” is Samuell’s first pic after Sophie Marceau starrer “With Love From the Age of Reason,” which has been optioned for a U.S. remake by L.A. shingle Coup d’Etat.
One of France’s most popular thesps and filmmakers, Chabat has just wrapped “Houba! The Marsupilami and the Orchid of Chicxulub,” a $61 million adventure-comedy that he directed, starred in and produced via his Chez Wam.
Repped by TF1 Intl., “War of the Buttons” will start shooting on April 13 in France. UGC Distribution will release the pic in Gaul on Nov. 23.
