Carolyn Conrad, associate, Weissmann Wolff Bergman Coleman Grodin & Evall

Dealmakers Impact Report 2011: Up Next

At 31, Conrad is the youngest attorney at the entertainment boutique where she was hired at age 26 out of powerhouse white-shoe firm Latham & Watkins.

Her corporate tax background led to her immediate involvement in high-level deals with complicated structures and back-ends.

“I studied accounting and business economics at college, and I’ve always felt that understanding the economics of it is really the most important part of making any deal,” she says.

Conrad works closely with senior partners Stan Coleman and Wayne Kazan (who’s on the Impact list in this issue) on clients such as Random House Films (their joint venture with Focus Features includes “One Day”); with David Stanley on reality production companies Morningstar and Wholly Cow; and with Peter Dekom on writer-directors Paul Haggis and Andrew Davis.

Her own clients include actress Jordana Beatty, writer-directors Paul Solet (“Grace”) and Deb Chow (“The High Cost of Living”), and Renee Bargh, co-host of “Extra Weekend.”
