Canal Plus takes ‘Big C,’ ‘Family’

U.S. series to begin screening in France later this year

CANNES — French paybox Canal Plus has picked up dramedy “The Big C” and fantasy skein “No Ordinary Family” at Mip TV.

Showtime’s “The Big C,” which toplines Laura Linney, will bow on Canal Plus during the second half of the year. ABC’s “No Ordinary Family,” which stars Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz, will air on sister channel Canal Plus Family later this year.

Canal Plus’ recent U.S. drama acquisitions include ABC’s “Detroit 1-8-7,” which bowed on the net in January, fellow ABC skein “Body of Proof” and NBC’s “The Event.”
