Exec left British terrestrial station ITV in September

France’s largest commercial network, TF1, has tapped U.K. format topper Remy Blumenfeld to help find hits ahead of April’s Mip TV sales mart.

Blumenfeld, who left commercial net ITV in September, hopes to source new ideas from Blighty’s production community.

“This is not about formats that have already successfully launched in the U.K.,” he said. “What we’re looking for is exciting new ideas that have been developed for a mainstream audience but have not yet been commissioned or aired.”

TF1 will also scout for producers in Holland and Scandinavia in its search for a breakout hit.

TF1 Prods. chairman Edouard Boccon-Gibod said, “We are specifically looking to work with content creators who want to build value in their IP by allowing us to produce it for the French market. We will only take pitches for shows where the rights are available in France.”TF1 Prods. intends to develop pilots of one or more formats, with rights to be shared 50/50 with the content creator.
